In recent years, consumer interest in alternative variants to traditional cigarettes has been increasing. One of these solutions is the glo™ tobacco heater that uses induction technology. glo™ is a heat-not-burn device. Through the use of specifically developed tobacco sticks containing nicotine, glo™ heats the tobacco to the right temperature. The tobacco heater is powered by a battery, which allows the continuous use without charge for up to 20 sessions (after a full charge of the battery and depending on the method of use). With glo™, you can heat up to 2 neo™ sticks without having to wait until the device is ready to reoperate.
The glo™ set consists of the device itself, a USB-C cable that is used to charge the device and a special brush to keep your glo™ tobacco heater at its best. In addition, glo™ tobacco heaters have two intensity modes: STANDARD and BOOST. In the latter mode, the tobacco stick is heated in just 15 seconds, but please note that this causes the battery in the device to drain faster due to the intensity of the mode. The device is designed for use only with neo™ sticks, which are available in several different variants.
Once the glo™ device is charged, a neo™ stick can be placed inside. With the push of a button, the heating process begins—where the tobacco is not being burned (as it happens in traditional cigarettes) but heated by a sufficiently high temperature. This allows the production of aerosol that is saturated with nicotine. When the device is ready it will create a short vibration, after which you can begin to use it.
From the users’ point of view, the whole process is to some extent similar to smoking a traditional cigarette. It should be noted that since tobacco is being heated, there is no cigarette smoke (with a high tar content) or ash. Unlike regular cigarettes, when using tobacco heaters there are about 90% less toxicants* being produced. It is important to keep in mind, that as the neo™ sticks still contains nicotine—a highly addictive substance, it is not completely risk-free. Additionally, using a tobacco heater is different from using an e-cigarette . In the case of e-cigarettes, instead of a tobacco stick, an e-liquid is used, which is a mixture of glycol, glycerin/glycerol, flavoring, and it may also contain nicotine.
The key to understanding how glo™ works is to learn about the phenomenon of induction, which has been widely used in household appliances for a long time now. It has now been miniaturized to such an extent that the technology can also be used within the heating chamber inside the glo™ tobacco heater.
Induction is based on the production of a magnetic field, as a result of which thermal energy is formed. With the push of a button on the device, heat accumulates in the metal heating chamber, where the tobacco stick has been placed. Thus, the tobacco stick gets heated, and the higher temperature allows for the release of authentic tobacco taste.
Before using the glo™ tobacco heater, make sure that the device is charged. After verifying the condition of the battery, you need to open the shutter door of the heater, and then place a tobacco stick of the selected flavor inside it. You would then need to press the power button where you will be signaled through a vibration that the neo™ stick is being heated. It takes 20 seconds for the tobacco to heat up on Standard mode and 15 seconds on BOOST mode.
When the device vibrates, it means that you can start using the device. The device also vibrates to inform you about the end of the session 10 seconds before the end of the heating process. After this time, there is no need to press any button as the heater will turn off on its own. The last step is to remove the used tobacco stick by pulling it out of the filter. neo™ tobacco sticks should be removed with caution, as it could still be hot from the heating process. When using a glo™ device, you need to remember to clean it regularly. The set includes a specially cleaning brush, where the user is advised to consistently clean the device. The optimal frequency is to clean it every 20 sessions from both sides. It is also important to keep the device away from water and damp places.
Finally, since it is impossible to determine the exact amount of nicotine content in a tobacco stick compared to a traditional cigarette, you would need to adjust the number of usages to your own needs.
